Pete & Repeat
Do you remember this joke as a kid? Pete and repeat were in a boat and Pete fell out. Who was left? Repeat. And so the hysterical circle of 8-year old humor ensues.
In Revelation 2 & 3 this phrase is repeated seven (7) times:
“Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying…”
It is shared at the end of each message to the seven churches John was given a message to deliver in this book of the Bible. It is a simple reminder to me that at times I don’t hear what God is trying to say to me. I have ears, that is not in question; but it is the second part of this statement, listening to the Spirit that I often forget.
I hope I grow beyond the 8-year old humor phase in my faith and am actively listening more each day.
