Am I A Missionary?
Whenever I heard the word missionary, the picture above is typically what pops into my mind. I was listening to a talk from Verge 2012 Conference today by a guy named Todd Engstrom. He gave a little different definition in his talk, here it is:
“A missionary is someone who sacrifices everything but the gospel for the sake of the gospel.”
It really made me think about the question posed at the beginning of this post. Can I answer yes to this? Is it just as difficult as imagining going to another land and being my worldview of what a missionary should be?
I’m not sure I have an answer to this question yet, but I am working on it. In the meantime I will continue to ponder and try to discern what this all means.
Matthew 19:29-30 And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or property, for my sake, will receive a hundred times as much in return and will inherit eternal life. But many who are the greatest now will be least important then, and those who seem least important now will be the greatest then.
